-Tasting Review

Volpaia Chianti Classico Riserva features oak centered aroma. The new oak scent is in the center of smell, and unripened dark-red fruity, peppery, herbal, earthy, mineral, and floral aromas are around it. However, due to stressed oak flavor, it could cause like-dislike.

​

​

The wine has light-body, dryness, moderate tannin, and high acidity. In smell, one can pick up the acidity. The combination of acidity and tannin gives a sensation of tightening the mouth up, which is appealing.

​

​

In 2 hours of tasting, the balance of flavors is ruined by the high temperature of the place. For that, the acidity pops up, and the bitterness could be found at the finish, which is irritating.

​

​

After one day,

the merit of oak-centered flavor could be found, and the demerit vanishes with low temperature. Given this, the wine flavors will be easily influenced by temperature.

An iconic wine that the Mascheroni Stianti family have been producing since 1967, when only very few producers used to produce a Chianti Classico Riserva. It’s produced with 100% of Sangiovese coming from some of the highest vineyards of the Chianti. The unique microclimate and the soil composition of “macigno Toscano” donate to this Sangiovese some of its outstanding complexity and elegance.
