-Tasting Review
'Adequately Abundant Aromas Created by Light Toffee, and Peaches'
'Liquid Texture Reminding of Light Honey, Follwing Harmony of Lightness and Abundant Sherry'
It is certain that Aberlour 18Y takes on a different path compared to Aberlour 12Y or A'bunadh. The whisky doesn't share a common feature found in Aberlour line; elegance created by full of sherry flavor, complex aromas.
At first inhaling, you might wonder whether it is an Aberlour product or not, due to peach scent on top of hinted toffee's. At first sipping, instant mouthfeel of light honey makes one chuckle.
It is surprising, at first, for the honey-like taste, second, the lightness of liquid, lastly, due to the extensively spread sherry aroma accentuated that follows the peach scent, which one quickly familiarizes with.
At the finish, one can feel subsiding taste centered around gentle oak spiciness, but then it brings about a question: "Does it really belong to an Aberlour line?"
The reason why the Aberlour series is not popular in Korea except A'Bunadh might be that people don't have a chance to experience the colorful features of the brand line. It is valuable enough to experience the 'light honey' feature, complex aromas, and 'lightness' in this whisky.
The whisky makes one wonder how various Aberlour lines could get with its taste. Especially, considering the reasonable price with its generous portion of 500mL, it is a good choice to buy Aberlour 18. However, one experience might be more than enough. You can serve it with light desserts.
