-Tasting Review

“Distinctive Sherry, at the Bottom of That, Added Orange or Citrus and Adequate Malt”

“Behind the Layers of Complex Flavors, Concealed Acidity Stimulating Salivary Gland”

Sherries are accentuated in this whisky. While they are appreciated in all dimensions, it pursues the elegant and well-balanced flavor that the gourmet industry seeks. It is different from Glenallachie 12 or 15, which is quite dense compared to Glenfarclas 15.

Behind the layers that sherries create, there also exists citrus, malt, butter, and unfamiliar but unique acidity, which makes this whisky more complex and elegant. The spiciness that can picked up right after opening decreases with time.

In my personal opinion, there are three key features of this whisky.

(1) Distinctive Sherry in the Taste Exploration

(2) Acidity that intensely Stimulates the Salivary Gland

(3) A Hint of distinctive Ground Carb Grains

What’s unique about this whisky is that it has intensely stimulating acidity which isn’t usual in other whiskies. The acidity brings about crave for snacks. As the sherries settle in, malt, citrus, toffee, vanilla, and coffee are raised to the surface. The overall process of tasting appeals to the customers with its depth.

Current popular whisky brands such as Glenallachie and Glendronach sometimes convey imbalanced flavor. Glendronach 12 has heavily accentuated sherry but the taste might be focused only on the scent with a short finish. Glenallachie(12/15)’s high density might work as an appealing point for some but definitely not all. However, Glenfarclas 15 appears to take its own path of pursuing ‘well-balanced sherry whisky with unique acidity’.

If anybody craves for sherry whisky that is not too dense, then Glenfarclas 15 definitely should make it on to the list. While the whole market is consuming one particular whisky(Glenallachie 10CS in South Korea), Glenfarclas 15Y will be one of the nice well-balanced alternatives at a reasonable price for any whisky fans.
